What is EUSIDIC?
EUSIDIC, established in 1970, the European Association of Information Services, exists to provide a FORUM for information and knowledge exchange and channels of communication for professionals involved in the information industry, both suppliers and users. The association is fully independent, funded by members and its activities and receives no subsidy.

What does EUSIDIC do and why?
The common objective of our members is communication, usage and the effective creation, organisation, discovery, delivery and access to a variety of information resources. Today's information sector is fast-moving and constantly increasing in complexity. Today's economic climate has intensified the drive for greater efficiency and productivity. Within this environment it becomes ever harder for industry professionals to keep abreast of the full picture. This is the gap EUSIDIC exists to fill. It seeks to be a multi-faceted body bringing together information professionals and their organisations to share their knowledge and widen their perspective, to benefit from the experience and ideas of other members and to place their specialisation and expertise in the broader context of the industry as a whole.

Who are the members?
EUSIDIC's membership represents the full spectrum of today's INFORMATION INDUSTRY in both public and private sectors. Those involved in the Association are managers and senior personnel from companies and organisations including, publishers, online/Internet vendors, government departments and agencies, software houses, academic societies, database producers, information brokers and corporate information departments from a wide range of public and private companies throughout Europe. With members represented in 16 countries in Europe, EUSIDIC is a unique European network for the information industry.

What is EUSIDIC's structure and organisation?
Today the membership consists of nearly 100 organisations (membership is by organisation rather than individuals). An elected Council and an Executive Committee manage the Association, and it has a Secretariat based in the Netherlands. It also has various committees and working groups.

Where do the Association's members meet?
EUSIDIC brings together its members to discuss issues of mutual interest and importance in settings both formal and informal, primarily at the Annual Conference and Spring Meeting, which combines presentations from leading, experts with member interaction in an informal environment. There are also regular workshops and seminars on topical issues. Both major meetings are accessible to non-members at a substantial higher price.

Why should your organisation be a member of EUSIDIC?
EUSIDIC is an organisation, which promotes contacts between members, enabling information specialists to get to know each other and their respective work, and to maintain an overview of the development of the sector as a whole. It is European in origin and interests but world-wide in its objectives. EUSIDIC offers opportunities for business development as well as access to and communication of information to those whose business is information. Full members from Europe and Associate members from outside Europe are welcome to join. We also offer special rates for small businesses.
